About:
Shelley has a Bachelor of Science, Honors degree in Cell and Molecular biology, with a minor in criminology, from Simon Fraser University. She has over 12 years of experience as a clinical research coordinator in respiratory medicine, oncology, endocrinology and orthopedic trauma and maintains an active designation as a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP). Shelley’s continuing education includes a Research Administration Certificate from Mohawk College and a Micro-Certificate in Regulatory Affairs from the University of British Columbia (UBC).
Shelley works with Principal Investigators and Industry Sponsors to evaluate and assess clinical trials for feasibility and implementation at the Centre for Lung Health. She is the primary industry contact for pharmaceutical/industry inquiries and facilitates study start-up activities for VGH’s Respiratory Division. Shelley establishes and maintains Industry partnerships, communication with research teams, researchers and sponsors and ensures site compliance with regulatory guidelines. She has experience working on industry-sponsored, investigator-initiated and grant-funded studies and has provided support to UBC’s Clinical Research Ethics Board for the ethical review of studies in a variety of therapeutic areas. She possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience in regulatory submissions, Heath Canada’s Special Access Program, site /institutional compliance requirements, contract reviews, budget negotiations, protocol development and research ethics.
